Dieses Video ist Teil des videocity.bs-"Loneliness"-Zyklus. Dieser war vom 28.05. – 11.08.2019  von  Montag bis Freitag von 10 bis 13 Uhr am e-Board des Congress Center Basels aussen und zudem parallel innen auf dem Monitor in der Mediathek der Hochschule für Gestaltung und Kunst FHNW, 8. OG, Freilager-Platz 1, Basel-Münchenstein (dort geschlossen 30.05. – 02.06.), zu sehen. 

In der Mediathek lässt sich der Unterschied zur Präsentation im öffentlichen Raum studieren.  Es ist eine traditionelle Präsentationsweise mit Monitor, Kopfhörer und Sitzgelegenheiten innerhalb eines konzentrierten, ruhigen, stilvoll gestalteten Ambientes. Besucher können hier das videocity.bs-Experiment selbst nachvollziehen und auf die Unterschiede zur zeitgleichen Präsentation im öffentlichen Raum achtgeben: Welche  Bedeutungsverschiebungen ergeben sich in der Interpretaton des gleichen

Werkes, das einmal mit (sofern vorhanden), einmal ohne Ton, sei es innen oder aussen, im Rahmen von videocity vorgestellt wird. 

In der Mediathek gibt es darüber hinaus die schöne Gelegenheit, im "integrierten Katalog" nach weiteren Bezügen zu recherchieren.

Additionally to videocity "Loneliness" screening at the e-Board, Congress Center Basel outside, between the 28 of May 2019 until the 11 of August 2019 this video was shown from Monday till Friday 10:00–13:00 on the screen at the Mediathek, FHNW Academy of Art and Design, 8th floor, Freilager-Platz 1

Our perception in the media library of the Academy of Art and Design FHNW is quite different from that experienced in the city centre. Here the videos are presented with their original soundtracks (two-thirds of them have sound). It is a traditional presentation with a monitor, headset and seating within a concentrated, quiet, stylish ambience.

Here the visitors can fully comprehend the videocity.bs experiment itself: those who are interested can here study the difference between the presentation in the public space and pay heed to the shifts in meaning that arise in interpretations of the same work, be they with or without sound, be it indoors or outdoors. There are additionally a wealth of books. But the experiment in perception can only be experienced by yourself, on your own.

Frantiček Klossner's high-speed video "Mess up Your Mind" stages the deconstruction of the subject in a radical way. Using a camera developed for military purposes that produces more than 15,000 shots per second, he has captured close-ups of human faces in extreme slow motion that, as they exhale, cause their closed lips to vibrate through the outflowing air. By decomposing fleeting movements into their minimal components, initially reminiscent of scientific-analytical research methods, Frantiček produces monstrously distorted video portraits. The face as a façade that creates meaning and identity seems to escape all control, individual traits liquefy and become illegible. The communication structure, in which facial expressions and speech apparatus are taken for granted, collapses. It is replaced by the unbroken obscenity of the huge closeups, carried by the immediate physical effect of the opening and closing lips.

La vidéo à haute vitesse de Frantiček Klossner "Mess up Your Mind" met en scène la déconstruction du sujet de manière radicale. À l'aide d'une caméra développée à des fins militaires qui génère plus de 15 000 images par seconde, il a capturé des gros plans de visages humains, ralentis à l’extrême, conduisant leurs lèvres fermées à vibrer dans l'air qui s'en échappe, lorsqu'ils expirent. En décomposant les mouvements fugitifs en leurs composantes minimales, rappelant dans un premier temps les méthodes de la recherche scientifique-analytique, Frantiček créée des portraits vidéo monstrueusement déformés. 

Le visage comme façade qui crée du sens et de l'identité semble échapper à tout contrôle, les traits individuels se liquéfient et deviennent illisibles. La structure de communication, au sein de laquelle les expressions faciales et l'appareil vocal sont considérés comme allant de soi, s'effondre. Elle est remplacée par l'obscénité ininterrompue des énormes gros plans, portée par l'effet physique immédiat des lèvres qui s'ouvrent et se ferment.
