A lavish frame made of dark wood, delicate colours and hovering half-shadows, whose appearance brings sfumato to mind: beauty and the integrity of youth – is this not an image to attract breathless glances? But "Julchen" is not only an image in the usual sense of the word, it is an image which revitalizes the 'still life'. For Gabriella Gerosa, a swiss artist from Basel, preserves the vital spirit of life in a video. One can see the girl breathing, her barely palpable movements, the batting of an eyelid. This eternally recurring motif creates the impression that the beautiful moment may very well linger on and must not necessarily disappear for ever into eternity.
