Mit Hirn, Text und Bild ästhetisch Forschen
Beschreibung (deu):
Beschreibung (eng): This papers` purpose is to study the question, in which ways the creation and perception of a combination of words and pictures (Text-Bild-Kombination) can be used in a teaching context and which scientific findings of brain research can be found to explain the positive effects of those methods. As the research domain is too large to be fully covered in this art-didactic work, it will concentrate on a few aspects. For the purpose of this thesis, scientific literature, as well as practical orientated literature is used and cross-connections between the different topics are drawn. The function and anatomy of the human brain, insights on the process of learning from brain research, as well as chosen positions of educational science and art education, are summarized to establish connections to the creative process.
“Ästhetische Forschung” (aesthetic research) by Kämpf-Jansen is a way of teaching art that enables the students to undergo every single step of the creative process on an artistic and scientific basis, thus it is the point of reference for teaching art as it is considered in this paper. Hand-drawn sketches by the author are shown in addition to the text. These drawings are based on Martin Haussmann’s methods of “Visualisierung” (visualization), which is a concept of notetaking in order to encourage thinking and support the processes of communication.
The combination of text and pictures can be used for teaching art in a very broad field of applications. Documenting lessons, learning and presenting knowledge, developing ideas, can all be positively influenced by using Text-Bild-Kombination in a purposeful way.
A diary as Andrea Sabisch describes it, regarding to ästhetische Forschung, can make the students’ personal approach on artistic and scientific research visible. The “Drawing Effect” by Jeffrey Wammes shows that a term is memorized better when it is hand- drawn than written down. Using the means of graphic design to structure content in a self-regulated manner, as Martin and Bettina Hirsch (et.al) tested it for their “Visual Summary”, turns the note taking process into an intense way to deal with a subject. Within this process the brain uses a lot of different areas and the learnt content is memorized on a broad neuronal basis.
The last chapter of this work outlines an artistic course, in which the potential of Text-Bild-Kombination for art education at school and beyond the subject of art are displayed.
