Description of an easement

1 LAW
A right to cross or otherwise use someone else’s land for a specified purpose.

2 LITERARY
The state or feeling of comfort or peace.

Behind the houses was a long, thin strip of land which winded its way in-between adjacent other backlands of gardens and garages.
Its long sides were illustrated with cinderblock, chain-link, redwood, concrete, ropes and strings in various colors, all allowing unique versions of permeability. At the open ends of the strip where piles of building rubble, dumped at some
point, then quickly taken over by thorn-berry vines and licorice roots. Actually, the whole stretch was covered with debris, as if a holding area for the waste the paradises on the other side of the fence produced. In this diffuse arena, living and non-living beings mixed, consumed and overlaid each other, creating a much more perfect utopian structure formed by process.
It was probably intended as a road, but instead was a path for small animals and people. A very long short-cut, for each step was choice between different surfaces. Smooth, rough, hot, wet, sticky, dusty, soft, harmful, fragile, unknown.
There seemed to be a pattern to the dance, but it did not repeat itself. Beautifully, in this kind of mess, your own self becomes a constant, and the persistent need for decisions is spread across the entire body, and the senses begin
to wander independently. Coyote country.
