Videowochen im Wenkenpark
In the 1980s, the Video Weeks at Wenkenpark formed an international forum for video art. With its focus on the production, training, mediation and presentation of video art and production, installations and performances, it met the needs of the time. The Video Weeks provided significant impulses and contributed to the establishment of the medium in the art context.
The Video Weeks at Wenkenpark took place in 1984, 1986 and 1988. Invited artists realized a broad range of video productions and events, prepared in various workshops. From that series in total 42 pieces are documented on video tapes, containing video-documentations of workshop processes, live video events, as well as five extensive interviews with guest artists. The historical stock of the collection comprises 79 original tapes with 42 artworks. The number varies as original tapes of multichannel installations and performance were also included, which have now been merged into single works. Some sources are freely available here on the Internet because the legal situation permits it. Blocked sources can be consulted in the media library on request.
