VestAndPage (Director)

VestAndPage bio
Transdisciplinary artists of tender collaborations in the ephemeral and immaterial, VestAndPage are Verena Stenke and Andrea Pagnes. They have worked together nomadically since 2006, using performance art, film, installation and personas to create durational and site-responsive works that express philosophical, ecological and queer feminist thought. They have produced performance-based art in polar, subterranean, military, clinical and other critical milieus, focusing on art's ritual and liminal nature, collective imaginings, and transcorporeal and psychoterratic states. As founders and directors of theVenice International Performance Art Week, they implement art as a social practice through temporary artistic communities and fluid artist collectives. Through performance-as-research and writing, they convey the intimate fabric of creativity, embodied practice, and performance art as an urgent methodology today. Their works have been presented internationally in biennales, theatres, museums, galleries and cinemas. As art educators, they share their knowledge in academic institutions and have widely published their research findings in peer-reviewed journals and books. Among their accolades, they received the Best Film Award at the Berlin Independent Film Festival.
Verena Stenke (Germany, 1981) is a performer with a background in dance and theatre; she also works in video and makeup artistry.
Andrea Pagnes (Italy, 1962) is a performer, visual artist, social theatre actor and operator, curator, and co-editor-in-chief of Performing Ethos: International Journal of Ethics in Theatre & Performance.
