The bridge performance series "LIVE LOAD // DEAD LOAD" penetrates the rigid structures of the city of Zurich and opens up a new perspective on urban space for the audience. The focus of the performance series is the moment of the live performance, which is particularly relevant for artists from the performative field and thematizes the examination of the body in public space. The project not only symbolically builds bridges between the public and artistic practice, but also chooses various pedestrian bridges in the city of Zurich as performance venues.
The term "LIVE" stands for the moment of performance, which is performed in real time, and "Dead" symbolizes the participatory discipline of art (performance), which hardly achieves any visibility in the current situation.
The audience is randomly generated by passing the bridge and the spectator is in the middle of the action for a moment. This so-called "everyday irritation" draws attention to the different uses of public space and questions the given structures of urban development.
