Anhand des Bauens eines Bootes werden alternative Betrachtungsweisen zu den Begriffen Material und Ding, Planung und Handlung untersucht. Der Bau des Bootes stellt die praktische Entwurfsarbeit dar. In der theoretischen Arbeit sind die Motivation und die Vorbereitung für den Bootsbau beschrieben, sowie die davon wiederum ausgelösten Prozesse und warum der Umgang mit dieser Thematik einen Denkanstoss für zeitgemässes Design auslösen kann.

Based on the building of a boat, alternative approaches to the terms material and thing,
planning and action are examined. The process of building the boat is the practical design
work. The theoretical work describes the motivation and the preparation for the boat
building, as well as the ensuing processes triggered by it and why working on this topic can provide an impulse for contemporary design.
