attribution accepted, but no documentary evidence found.

Attribution

attr. to Compère by FINSCHER 1964 on account of the musical style and of its being listed in I-Mfd 1, index between two cycles by "Loyset" (C14 and C17). Questioned by RIFKIN 2001 and BOKULICH 2019.

Description

The cycle belongs to the “core” group of motetti missales. It consists of eight motets, provided with “loco” rubrics. The texts are compilations from different sources, mostly associated with the Blessed Sacrament, but including, among others, Marian and penitential elements.
