The longest day begins at 05:29 and ends at 21:26. During this period, in daylight, the 16-hour performance marathon DER LÄNGSTE TAG will take place for the second time in the Zeughaushof. DER LÄNGSTE TAG is a platform for pointed works that create an act of concentration and involvement in terms of time and space. For its sixth edition, 16 artists and groups from Switzerland (German-speaking Switzerland and French-speaking Switzerland), Germany, Spain, Greece, the USA (New York), the Middle East (Palestine), India and Brazil have once again been invited, who belong to different generations and operate in different performative fields: Visual arts, music and media art, performance, dance / choreography and theatrical or socio-cultural and participatory practices. The specific format of the event, with performances following one another in an hourly rhythm (starting from the time of sunrise), is laid out like a clearly defined grid over the day and location. It forms a contrast to the live moment, but also to the non-binding nature and multiple use of public space. With CONCLUDING DAY on Monday, June 22, 2015, 10 am to 3 pm: Public and moderated discussion with the participating performers as well as eight specifically invited (re-)narrators who will open the discussion about the respective performance with their observations and accounts of their experiences. This reflection forum not only tests methods of oral history in the field of performance art and temporary art in public space, it also aims to strengthen the exchange between the internationally participating artists.
