Object / Performance:

During the exhibition, I vacuum the dust of the exhibition space twice and empty it onto one square meter. For this purpose, a 1m2 frame made of angle iron is laid out on the floor, weighing down a sheet of white paper of the same size. The dust forms the drawing, the paper the support. The image becomes denser over the duration of the exhibition and keeps a record.
The object is completed during the exhibition by means of performance. The work is also a performance relic.

I exhibit the inconspicuous service of an art business - keeping the floor of the exhibition space clean. At the vernissage and as a performance, this action is irritating because it is a process that is normally completed before the vernissage. The housework and cleaning work is thus upgraded and receives attention as art.

The work Dust (or the trilogy Dust, Earth, Ashes) was developed on the occasion of the invitation to Regionale 21 at FABRIKculture Hégenheim (France) with the exhibition title 100 +100 ≠ 400, curated by Gerda Maise. 100 artists were given the opportunity to occupy one square or cubic meter of space.
