Sitting Meditation

»Sitting Meditation« 2013, New York. // I did this performance in Brooklyn, New York, USA in 2013. Here, some people lock their trash in small cages so that other people don't deposit their garbage in other people's bins. This fact inspired me to meditate on duality and non-duality in general and on »precious and trash« in specific. I decided to do this directly in one of these waste cages. In this way, I was able to represent myself as a manifestation of waste, which nevertheless considers itself so valuable that it wants to cage itself. During this sitting meditation I gained some important insights that had been hidden from me during all my years in the Zen monastery. When I stepped out of the cage, I had to laugh out loud.
