Maag on Mars

Maag, Irene; lives on Marsweg in Reinach. In the performance MAAG ON MARS, she strides across a field on the Bruderholz above Reinach BL wearing a skin-colored bodysuit, a pumpkin head and two vuvuzelas, walking in different directions as a Martian. Thanks to the video editing technique, she appears out of nowhere and disappears just as mysteriously. The two vuvuzelas as moving, body-expanding elements serve as transmitters, mouthpieces, receivers, feelers, pseudo-hearing and seeing instruments, trophies and divining rods.

The video was shown in the run-up to the 2016 Performance Prize Switzerland in Baselland as a supporting program in the display window of the Kunsthalle Palazzo Liestal and in the lobby of the Kunsthaus Baselland Muttenz.
