Ein Herz für Kriens

The "Ortsgestaltung+Verkehr" group of the "Lust auf Kriens" association became active and launched the "Upgrading the entrance to Kriens" project because the people of Kriens were dissatisfied with their entrance to the town. In the performance "A heart for Kriens"
by Svetlana Hansemann focuses on the entrance to Kriens. When looking at the map of the town, the artist noticed that the interwoven highway roads resemble the anatomical cross-section of a heart. The map shows the shape of the heart, the chambers and the largest artery - the aorta. The heart is the central pump of the circulatory system, just as the roads and the highway are the pump of the Kriens transport hub. For the artist, the highway underpass beneath the "Strassenaorta", which lies on the border between Lucerne and Kriens, represents the given entrance to the town. Because of the heart analogy, she carried out a performance there under the highway bridge with a cow's heart. The 2.5 kg heart was cut into pieces, put through a mincer and mixed with spices and onions. The resulting burgers were grilled and eaten.
