We use the particularities of the relationship between (healthy) mothers and children with disabilities as an image-breaking mirror for the general concept of "mother". In the case of Duchenne disease, the process of detachment runs counter to an increasing need for care. What dramatic constellations can this lead to and what do they tell us about family dependencies? We contrast this difficult development with a story that declares life with a disability as an accelerator for a (necessary) cosmic detachment: A fable about the human and its brain that must leave planet Earth, before its destruction forever.
