Situation: We receive a studio grant from the city of Zurich in Cairo. We take the opportunity to realize a performative film experiment that works with the entanglement and interpenetration of bodies.
Spatial situation: The studio on the Nile Island and a garden on the Nile.
Material and preparation: Central to the film is a frame with a motor and long arm, on which the camera slowly circles the center. The camera movement creates a three-dimensional image using the simplest of means. The arm for the exterior shots is approx. 5 meters long, the one for the interior shots approx.
2.5 meters long. We have the frame made in Cairo.
Procedure: X and Y sketch various experimental arrangements and use them to develop a series of scenarios. These include animals, utensils and lighting moods. In about 20 days of shooting, the film material is created through improvisations and choreographies.
