Clouds are fleeting. They never stay in one place. Or so you thought, until ultra found a way to entice them to stay there for a brief moment. The new piece by Swiss performance group ultra is an atmospheric symbiosis of soundscape, light direction, lyrical texts and the delicate formation and disappearance of clouds.
This small scenic wonder is made possible by an "ingenious machine" (Luzerner Zeitung), which ultra developed especially for this piece and which has never been seen before: The dream of making clouds has come true. Formerly a religious symbol, favorite object of art, unexplored territory and today, as a cloud, a metaphor for the dissolution of man in technology: clouds are everything and nothing, they are incomprehensible. That is why the play "Clouds" is an attempt to make something appear on stage, only to watch it disappear.
