Bleu Remix
(2008)

https://www.yannmarussich.ch

Bleu Remix is the sequel to Bleu provisoire created in 2001, a performance in which Yann Marussich let blue-tinted biological fluids emerge from his orifices and ooze from his epidermis, revealing the inner turmoil of his body. The original sound of Bleu Provisoire is reworked for each performance in Bleu Remix by a new local musician, making the performance unique each time. In Bleu Remix, the performer, dressed in white briefs, sits on a seat in a transparent glass cage. He takes us on another intimate, secret journey through his body.

His body is motionless, eyes closed, eyes open. Little by little, blue tears begin to roll down his cheeks, he's crying blue. From his nose a blue snot, from his mouth a blue drool, from his armpits a blue sweat and now on his forehead, on his back, on his stomach, on his legs, his whole body oozes blue. Always in search of this universal man, he takes up the essentials of Bleu Provisoire, kneading, transforming and metamorphosing them to shake the senses and better reveal this vulnerable human reality. With his invisible movements, his gaze and his blue perspiration made visible, Yann Marussich succeeds in interiorizing our exterior and making our unconscious aware.

Why did Yann Marussich choose the color blue? A color closely associated with dreams, wisdom and serenity. It's omnipresent all around us, but doesn't exist inside our bodies. It's only present in our dreams and unconscious. Blue echoes life, travel and discovery, both literally and figuratively (personal introspection). With his quality of presence, the performer manages to provoke an unbearable gaze in the audience. The subject's blue exterior takes viewers through a human experience that accesses the spirits of the supernatural.
