Carrying a basin full of liquid clay, I enter the room. I place the basin on the floor in front of a large wall. After taking off my clothes, I dip my body into the clay. I press and roll my body against the wall and paint with all my body parts and limbs. In this way, I explore how it feels and looks when I paint with my knee or ear, for example. I repeat this process several times until the whole body and the hair tied back in a high ponytail are completely covered in clay. I can't open my eyes at first because my face is covered in clay, which intensifies the feeling of the body when drawing/painting/printing. I let the ponytail slap against the wall with a flourish. Tone on tone, I begin to merge visually with the prints on the wall, creating a kind of moving relief. The marks condense on the wall and leave behind an image. Painting with the whole body connects body and space and documents this visible relationship and the process. The performance refers to my original sculptural background. It is a homage to Yves Klein, whom I thank for developing painting into a performance. At the same time, however, I also criticize the sexist way in which naked women were used as paintbrushes by clothed men at the time.
