Master Plan (children’s edition)
(2014)

On June 21, 2014, twenty children (aged 5 to 9 years) participated in “Master Plan (children’s edition)”.
The work took place at the Kasernenareal, an important historical building in the city center.
Part of the building was used by the police, while the city and canton of Zurich were developing a new master plan for its use after 2018.
Many parties contributed to it; children, however, were excluded.
The artist took this opportunity to invite children to participate in the new master plan. During a one-hour session she explained the history and current use of the Kasernenareal and asked them to draw their visions for its future.
Following this, Kovacevska submitted a report to the city presenting the drawings and advocating for the participation of children in the planning of land use. Their proposals were positively welcomed by the city officials.

The documentation of the work is versatile and can be presented as a book (the PDF document), photo series, or an installation including the children’s drawings.
