Sinnflut 3
(2011)

https://www.kollabor.ch
Urban space is determined by planning that defines all spaces clearly and down to the last detail. Every meter must be used economically. The city is growing and land prices are rising. The gap between rich and poor is widening. Artists are brought into neighborhoods to enhance unattractive residential areas or industrial wastelands with cultural life. As soon as the district has been upgraded, the artists are forced to move further out to the outskirts of the city or to suburbs where studio rents are still affordable. Sinnflut - Sinnfluch - Sinnflucht. With the performance Sinnflut, Kollabor takes an artistic, performative look at the above-mentioned field of gentrification and the economic flood that accompanies it. It defines a platform in the middle of the city in a place that has just been upgraded. With this piece of occupied ground under its feet, Kollabor performs with sensual pleasure and cultivates its collective performance practice and its stubbornness with a regular refusal of meaning when the city is drowning in a flood of meaning. In doing so, Kollabor reflects on how to deal with the special circumstances and resources on site and uses the location for its own interests.
