The KUNSTWETTE.CH project took the Federal Art Competition - Swiss Art Awards as an opportunity to reflect on the mechanisms of Swiss art promotion. After the annual submission deadline for this most coveted of all art competitions in Switzerland, conversations among us, artists, always revolved around the predictions for the outcome of the competition, the advantages and disadvantages of individual competition participants and the supposed preferences of the jury. Rumors spread about suspected cliques. Every year, the entire Swiss art scene was thrown into a state of emotional turmoil.

The project was implemented - like a horse race - in the form of a mobile betting office, which visited several Swiss art institutions for three months and was also available on a project website. Here, art gamblers had the opportunity to purchase betting slips and place money on their favorites among the participants of the Swiss Art Awards 2010.

The website KUNSTWETTE.CH informed interested parties about the route of the mobile betting office. In addition to a comprehensive database with portraits and short biographies of participating artists, videos with betting tips and predictions from well-known personalities from the Swiss art scene were also available here. Players could also find out about the constantly changing rankings of individual artists.

After the Federal Commission had announced its decision, the winnings were paid out to those players who had bet on the right artists.
