A Stable of Jockeys

For the Swiss Art Awards 2020 I created an online solo exhibition that was produced by 4 galleries around the world. Some galleries still talk about having a stable of artists. I decided to turn this on its head and create a stable of galleries that I would ride through the promotional race of the art world. I posted 111 daily instagram stories on the Swiss Art Awards account for my "first ever international solo exhibition" – Dawn Nilo: Performing Negotiations. An excerpt from an article by Lauren Fournier explains:

of the promotional acts and strategies that support and create value
around artists and their practices within a global audience of art lovers, viewers, readers, critics, curators, comrades, and collectors. This includes websites and social media accounts, exhibition announcements, congratulatory ads placed in prominent art publications,
press releases, catalog essays, reviews and prestigious awards. These
all prove to be malleable media in themselves, materials for Nilo The
Fool to have fun with.”
