12 Monate Performance / CH liebt Kunst
(1998-2001)

The 12-month performance (12.09.1998-11.09.1999) included the investigation of elementary life actions in the manner of a deconstruction and minimalization, and building on this, their ritualization in the manner of a reconstruction. The ritualization took place through the monthly performance of 12 core structures. The structures and events were related to each other and summarized in the catalog of 144 published or public events. The 12 months of performance necessarily led to investing the performer's body in an investigation of the artist's conditions of existence in Switzerland (CH liebt Kunst). With several hundred voluntary and involuntary performers.

CH liebt Kunst (12.09.1998-11.09.2001) developed first of all on the level of existence itself (12 months of performance), then on the level of social welfare ("social existence", sample of livelihood) and finally on the level of art promotion with the questions of "artist existence". The central conceptual idea was: The social concept of an individual (CH loves art) is measured against the constitutional possibilities of the state (Does CH love art?). Within the framework of the project, there was an opportunity for documented inter-action and co-production from the state to the individual level.
