Performance from 25.04.2009 The last suitcase Transit 2009 April 25 - May 17, 2009 Before his transit from Geneva to Paris, the sculptor Alberto Giacometti destroyed a large part of his sculptural work, but packed a few small sculptures in small matchboxes, which contained the core, the ideational prerequisites of his mature late work. "The Last Suitcase" can be seen as a relic, a testament, the spiritual legacy of an artist's existence, an artist who leaves the scene, runs away, goes on the run, leaves the country, changes his identity, disappears from the scene, but nevertheless leaves behind a clear, unmistakable message that is also clearly different from the statements of his fellow artists. In the context of the exhibition as a whole, each work becomes an important piece of the mosaic that contributes to the overall picture of the regional art scene at a particular point in time.
