The physical reflex to tickling is pronounced in all humans, although its exact function has not yet been researched. Mutual tickling often serves as a means of communication between people. In its affectionate version, it is a playful way of making contact; in its malicious version, it comes close to torture. In her video work, Römmelt shows tickling in precisely this ambivalence. The focus is entirely on the body-torso of performer Momo Fabienne Tanner, who is tickled from two sides, sometimes in a friendly manner, sometimes insidiously. The performer constantly struggles to control her twitching body, her uncontrollable impulses alternating between laughter and crying, pain and hilarity.
