Responding

After receiving her doctorate in 1982, Sigrid Schade worked as a lecturer at the Universities of Marburg, Kassel, Zurich and Bern, as well as a research assistant at the Technical University of Berlin and the Institute for Advanced Study in the Humanities in Essen. In 1994 she habilitated on the topic Körperbilder und ihre Lektüren. She was a professor for Art Science and Aesthetical Theory at the University of Bremen until 2002. In 2002 she was appointed Director of the Institute (first Department) for Cultural Studies in the Arts at the ZHdK (formerly HGKZ). She has led numerous research projects, including the SNF-funded project archiv performativ.
