"Sich sammeln" was created in 2012 (exhibited for the first time in 2015) during a studio residency at NAIRS in the Lower Engadine. Here, Anna-Sabina Zürrer worked intensively with the plant Alchemilla (lady's mantle), which she discovered in a large collection at an altitude of 2500 meters on an alpine pasture. For several weeks, she got up at 4 o'clock in the morning and used a pipette to collect the drops from the edges of the leaves. The plant regulates its water balance with the guttation drops excreted in the early hours of the morning. The absorbed water is filtered and the excess is excreted again. Anna-Sabina Zürrer's interest in the plant's natural filtrate begins with today's ever-increasing information overload. Here, the ability to filter, to decide on selection and exclusion, is becoming increasingly important.
