During this workshop, I dealt with the topic of movement - moving from one space to another space or state, body as a tool. I performed a number of performances in front of the participants of the workshop. These were well prepared with drawings of upcoming movements and descriptions of necessary materials.
White Strip
From the gate through the courtyard to the house was corroded a wide white strip of paper. A transparent nylon tube with a diameter of 50-60 cm was extended over it. Albena slides into the nylon hole, her hands were behind her back. She was trying to move forward. With convulsive movements she crawled and pushed herself away without using her hands. The nylon sticked to her sweaty body, making it even harder to move. In this way she passed the distance to the house (app. 20 m) and went out the other end of the pipe. The performance conveys a sense of suffocation, restraint, inability to move forward. Her act is cathartic.
Grating
Sharp metal parts welded in the form of a grid - this is a work in progress by one of the participants in the plein air. Albena looks for gaps and passes smoothly between the blades. She plays with the sense of danger and self-injury. There are elements of masochism, eroticism and heroism in this game.
