Online and Offline Romanticism

This master thesis questions the practice of online and offline identity portrayal told through personal experiences of using the dating application Grindr. Using photography as media and the Thesis as a framework for experimentations of aesthetics and semiotics to develop my own visual language and refine my identity as a multidisciplinary designer. Dealing with topics such as melancholy, lust, fragility and image curation, the project transforms into a work of healing and self-love.

Diese Masterarbeit stellt die Praxis der Online- und Offline-Identitätsdarstellung in Frage, die anhand persönlicher Erfahrungen bei der Nutzung der Dating-Applikation Grindr erzählt wird. Ich nutze Fotografie als Medium und die Masterthesis als Rahmen für Experimente von Ästhetik und Semiotik, um meine eigene visuelle Sprache zu entwickeln und meine Identität als multidisziplinärer Designer zu verfeinern. In der Auseinandersetzung mit Themen wie Melancholie, Lust, Zerbrechlichkeit und Imagepflege verwandelt sich das Projekt in ein Werk der Heilung und Selbstliebe.
