Life-Like. Designing Emotionally Durable Products via Physical Interaction

In human-to-human interaction, emotional interaction can be provided by sharing mutual expressions, which is not provided when people interact with products. This thesis argues that by providing emotional expressions from the product side, the more product attachment can be achieved. The aim of the research is to define strategies to design lifelike products and examine physical interaction in particular. In four smart product designs, different elements of physical interaction are applied to express functional, emotional and characteristic attributes of products.
